About Me

Jess headshotI am passionate about helping my clients amplify their strengths while making shifts in the patterns that are not serving their best selves.  I utilize an eclectic and multimodal approach to therapy that emphasizes connectedness, authenticity and empathy.  I meet each client where they are in the present moment with an openness and respect that invites them to deeply experience whatever they bring to the room.  My specialties include child and adolescent psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), parenting support, sandplay therapy, art therapy, experiential education, group therapy, and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP).

My professional career has focused primarily on helping children and teens overcome anxieties, build self-esteem and coping skills, learn how to modulate emotions, and better navigate their social worlds.  My experience includes work in schools, clinics, and most extensively in facilitating group therapy for children and teens with atypical neurodevelopment and social pragmatic struggles.  I am naturally playful, warm, imaginative, and creative in my approach with children.  I offer concrete tools for adjusting negative or rigid mindsets and strategies for managing anxiety and regulating emotions while always maintaining a focus on the unique needs of each individual.

My greatest joy is being in the presence of horses and my “other office” is a ranch where I facilitate Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP), a powerful form of experiential psychotherapy that involves a collaborative effort between the client, the horse, and a mental health professional.  In my role as an Equine Therapist, I consider myself a “translator” for the client and the horse as I have been consistently inspired by the profound impact a horse can make on our sense of self and our way of being in the world, if we only allow them.  Learn more about Equinicity Marin and EFP
